We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Network Engineering Apprentice to join our Malvern facility in Worcestershire. This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic and innovative business unit that supports international and domestic customers who are interested to know what is happening in places they cannot be. Our software and systems products deliver meaningful intelligence from multiple data sources and present this information in an intuitive, secure and timely manner.
What you will do:
As part of the Networks and Infrastructure team you will gain practical on-the-job experience providing technical support and assistance to internal and external customers. Supported by our experienced team you will:
Maintain our Networks: Monitor network performance and assist with troubleshooting issues related to connectivity, bandwidth, or outages.
Install and Test Equipment: Set up hardware and software, ensuring everything functions correctly and securely.
Help Manage Security: Support the implementation of network security protocols like firewalls, antivirus solutions, and access controls.
Document Work: Keep accurate records of network configurations, updates, and incidents, which is essential for audits and maintenance.
Provide User Support: Assist with basic IT support related to our internal network, such as resolving problems for users.
Learn Industry Tools: Gain experience with tools used for network monitoring including security, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Collaborate With Other Teams: During the latter stages of the apprenticeship, there will be the opportunity to work with various other support functions including Operations, Post Design Support and Quality.
What you will learn:
This Level 4 Apprenticeship is ideally suited to you if you are motivated, diligent, and excited by a career in IT Network Engineering with a global Aerospace and Defence company. You will work with the teams that are responsible for delivering technical support and assistance to end-users. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining the performance and reliability of both internal and external technology infrastructure by helping to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
As part of your development, you will build strong problem-solving skills, gain valuable technical knowledge, and develop excellent customer service abilities. These skills will not only contribute to the overall success of the Intelligence Sensing business unit in Malvern but will also provide you with hands-on experience in your chosen discipline, helping to shape a strong foundation for your future career - which we hope may lead to securing a permanent role with us!
Qualifications we prefer:
We expect that you will be just starting your career in Network Engineering, so alongside our training partner, we will delight in training and supporting you through your career journey to achieve a Network Engineer Level 4 apprenticeship. That means you need to be a willing learner and committed to achieving both business and personal results whilst working as part of a team. You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas and information clearly. With a customer-focused approach you will be required to develop relationships and gain the confidence and cooperation of people within and outside the business. You will be proficient using Microsoft applications (to include Excel and PowerPoint) and have a great work ethic. You will also need to have obtained a grade 4 or above in 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (or equivalent level qualifications) and a level 3 qualification in an IT related discipline.
Some prior work experience in a networking/computer-related environment would be an advantage.

This is a full-time site-based role working 38 hours per week, with the hours of work being between 0830 to 1700 Monday to Friday although there will be some flexibility, and you may be required at times to work outside normal working hours.
