GE Aerospace operates three cutting edge manufacturing facilities in the Muskegon area. Our plants are home to high performance teams who are creating quality High Pressure Turbine Nozzles, Low Pressure Turbine Nozzles and Shrouds for use in commercial and military aircraft engines. The manufacturing processes we use include High Speed Grinding, Brazing / Heat Treat, In-machine deburr, Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) such as Conventional, Speed Drills, CNC and Wire as well as Ultrasonic Cleaning and VPA Coating. As the Special Process Engineer, you will focus on vacuum and atmosphere furnace pyrometry and calibrations for the air heat treat, vacuum brazing and vacuum heat-treating processes. This role is focused upon the execution of manufacturing activities within an operation discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Maintenance, Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, and Lean Engineering. Daily tasks are primarily self-guided and discussed with personnel within the Special Joining Process Engineering group. This role will report directly to Technical Resource Director.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities:
- Define and control production procedures including tooling, equipment, and training.
- Interpret drawing specifications and applications for tooling, equipment, and affected personnel.
- Develop in-depth knowledge at a process expert level of pyrometry for air heat treat, vacuum brazing and vacuum heat-treating processes.
- Use engineering problem solving tools to execute RC/CA to implement engineering solutions
- Use key performance indicators to establish personal performance goals (PPG) and develop Leader Standard Work to achieving PPG
- Recognize existing problems and initiate workflow
- Participate and communicate as a member of a cross-functional team; serve as a liaison between manufacturing operations and engineering
- Implement procedural standards per AMS 2750 and serve as process expert support for related Nadcap audits
- Develop and standardize processes and parameters; implement new ideas to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost and productivity
- Provide customer with transparent reporting
- Complete Receive Inspect Thermocouple Wire
- Outsource equipment calibrations
- Verify Argon Deliveries Compliance
- Quarterly Furnace / Vacuum Gauge Calibrations
- Quality control of furnace run records and braze summary
- Direct oversight of practical furnace training
- Train furnace operators, inspectors, and team coaches to verify Special Process Parameters for vacuum furnace runs
- Ensure compliance to AMS2750 and GE Specifications, Lead specifications changes to production setting
- Team with Lead MESP and Furnace Reliability Engineer to RC/CA TUS/SAT failures
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of Manufacturing experience)
- Minimum of 3 years of Manufacturing experience
