The Customer Quality Engineer is responsible for managing customer quality requirements, addressing quality concerns, and ensuring that products and services meet customer expectations. They act as the voice of the customer within the organization and work to resolve quality issues while driving continuous improvement.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the customer liaison (primary point of contact) for customers regarding quality-related matters.  Communicate customer requirements, concerns, and feedback to internal teams.
  • Problem resolution, investigate and resolve customer complaints and quality issues.  Collaborate with cross functional teams internally to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to address customer concerns.
  • Quality Assurance that both products and processes meet customer specifications and quality standards.  Collaborate with internal teams to address quality gaps and improve processes.
  • Identify and document instances of quality escapes (non-conforming products delivered to customers) and non-compliances.  Lead cross-functional teams to analyze the root cause of quality escapes and develop robust corrective actions.  Communicate findings and resolutions to customers in a timely and transparent manner.
  • Support customer audits and visits by providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries. Represent the company during customer quality reviews and meetings.
  • Performance Monitoring, track and report customer quality metrics, including defect rates, returns, and complaints. Monitor trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer quality issues, corrective actions, and communications.
  • Continuous Improvement, collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in ownership of quality assurance and control for assigned supply chain, customer and products/process areas)
  • Minimum of 3 years of ownership of quality assurance and control for assigned supply chain, customer and products/process areas.
  • Experience in quality management system, preferably in the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Ability to travel to supplier locations as needed.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
