The lead manufacturing engineer for the metalworking technologies group will be responsible for generating and operating conventional machining processes for the Manufacturing Excellence organization. The lead engineer will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy in problem solving techniques to deliver conventional machining solutions to the organization. The lead engineer will partner with colleagues to develop and maintain project plans and aid in keeping technology projects on track for on-time delivery to the customer. They will collaborate across the supply chain to provide solutions for the problems of today, while maintaining awareness of new technology in the industry for solutions to the problems of tomorrow.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain advanced understanding of different types of CNC controllers and the associated capabilities of each.
- Support senior engineers in developing, operating and improving advanced conventional machining techniques.
- Has extensive knowledge of best practices for conventional machining and works to develop new advanced techniques for metalworking
- Utilizes analytical thinking to problem solve the challenges associated with machining HRSAs to meet the technical requirements established by design engineering.
- Works with external vendors to develop and implement new machining solutions and helps scale those solutions across the supply chain.
- Collaborates cross functionally across multiple internal shops and part families to aid in improving SQDC metrics for the supply chain across the conventional machining domain.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing experience) + Minimum of 3 years of Manufacturing experience
