AIRCRAFT COMPONENT REPAIR TECHNICIAN
Job Description:

Position Summary:

Cutter Aviation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Aircraft Component Repair Technician to support our component repair operations and advanced aircraft systems development programs. The ideal candidate will contribute to component repair and overhaul (R&O), Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) efforts, prototype system builds, and test setups supporting engineering analysis.

This hands-on role requires expertise in mechanical and/or electrical systems, experience in aircraft component service environments, and a strong interest in aerospace innovation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform teardown, inspection, repair, and reassembly of aircraft components related to Cutter Aviation OEMs and systems.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of aircraft component repair techniques within a Part 145 repair station environment.
  • Use precision tools and diagnostic equipment to assess component conditions and ensure compliance with Component Maintenance Manual (CMM) specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and test results for traceability and regulatory compliance.
  • Support prototype system builds, hardware integration, and validation during development phases.
  • Assist engineers with test setups (mechanical, electrical, thermal, hydraulic) for performance analysis and FAA qualification.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, specifications, and technical instructions.
  • Participate in STC development efforts, including conformity builds, modification center support, and documentation.
  • Fabricate or modify test fixtures, wire harnesses, and instrumentation as required.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A&P certification or prior experience in aircraft MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) environments.
  • 3+ years of experience in aviation maintenance, component repair, or R&D support.
  • Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 145 operations and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with aircraft tools, precision measuring instruments, and test equipment.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical and electrical systems used in general aviation and turboprop aircraft.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations and STC-related procedures (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with component repair, prototype fabrication, aerospace R&D, or flight test support.
  • Basic understanding of instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and sensors.
  • Exposure to FAA certification processes, conformity inspections, or DER support.

Additional Skills:

  • Sheet metal fabrication experience (a plus).
  • Proficient in interpreting aircraft drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily based in a shop/lab environment, with occasional field support for flight testing or mod center work.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. and working in physically demanding conditions.
  • Flexibility in work hours during prototype and test phases.
